IAfS FACULTY SPOTLIGHT

Moses Kansanga, Ph.D. .

Moses Kansanga is Assistant Professor of Geography and International Affairs.  He joined GW after completing his PhD at the University of Western Ontario. His research explores questions at the intersection of sustainable agriculture and natural resource management using community-based and participatory approaches. In the past decade, Dr. Kansanga’s research has focused on integrating traditional knowledge systems and modern science to generate contextually appropriate solutions to complex socioecological issues such as food insecurity and climate change. He has worked with small-holder farmers in a number of countries in Africa and published in a wide-array of peer-reviewed journals.  He teaches courses on agriculture and sustainable food security; society and the environment; and the geography of Africa.
