The Institute for African Studies is enthused with the arrival of Whitney Grespin as 2020-2021 IAfS Visiting Scholar.

Whitney Grespin is a lecturer for “Security Policy Analysis” and “Defense Contracting in Practice” at the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs. She is a Ph.D. candidate at King’s College London’s Defence Studies Department at UK JSCSC.

Her work touched upon International security sector reform/security force assistance professionals with specialized experience overseeing national security, capacity building, and institutional transformation projects in developing/complex environments.

While at IAfS, Whitney is set to pursue her research project titled “Revolutionary Road: The Role of Private Security Companies in Overtraining African Recipient Militaries. In the past, Whitney’s work took her around the world, including Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, and Uganda.
